Thanks to a brilliant performance, FC Bayern Women claimed an emphatic 4-0 win in the top-of-the-table clash in the Google Pixel Women's Bundesliga at VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday evening. The victory over their closest rivals in the battle for the championhip, which was watched by almost 25,000 people in the stadium and over two million on TV, saw the Munich girls stretch their lead at the top to seven points. There are five matchdays left of the season.
"Congratulations from everyone at FC Bayern to the women's team, who celebrated a crucial win in the title race with the impressive 4-0 at Wolfsburg," said FC Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen. "It's also a special one because our women's chief Bianca Rech was still on the pitch in the last success at Wolfsburg in October 2008. Now its about staying focused. Next week it's the cup semi-final at home," added Dreesen, looking ahead.
Against Frankfurt on Easter Sunday
FCB Women host Eintracht Frankfurt at the Campus on Easter Sunday for a place in the DFB Cup final. The Munich girls are aiming to reach the final in Cologne for the first time since the 2017/18 campaign and keep the dream of a first domestic double in the club's history alive.
