Round-up of the international break for FCB Women

Several players from FC Bayern Women have been in action for their national teams over the last few days. fcbayern.com brings you a round-up of the results from the first two matchdays of qualifying.

Successful start for Germany

Germany, featuring Lea Schüller, Giulia Gwinn, Sydney Lohmann and Klara Bühl, began their EURO 2025 qualification campaign against Austria, who were without injured FCB duo Katharina Naschenweng (knee) and Sarah Zadrazil (muscle strain). After falling 2-0 behind early on, the two-time world champions fought back and won 3-2 thanks to a brace from Bühl and a penalty from Gwinn. Horst Hrubesch's side were also victorious in their second group match, beating an Iceland team captained by Glódís Viggósdóttir 3-1 at the Tivoli in Aachen. Schüller netted a brace in the convincing win, while Bühl claimed an assist. Iceland won 3-0 against Poland in their opening game.

Tight contests in League A

The majority of the FCB Women players are in the groups of League A. Tuva Hansen enjoyed a 4-0 victory over Finland with Norway on Matchday 1 in Group A1. Jill Baijings and the Netherlands team, on the other hand, lost 2-0 to Italy. The head-to-head clash between the two Bayern players then ended in a 1-0 win for Netherlands.

Linda Sembrant and Magdalena Eriksson (Sweden) and Georgia Stanway (England) are battling for a place at next year's tournament in Switzerland in Group A3. The Munich trio played out a 1-1 draw between the two countries at London's Wembley Stadium on Matchday 1. On Matchday 2, England enjoyed a 2-0 win away to Republic of Ireland, while Sweden went down 1-0 at home to France.

Pernille Harder and Denmark are in Group A2 on the road to EURO 2025. The Bayern attacker celebrated a perfect start to the qualifying campaign with two wins against Czech Republic (3-1) and Belgium (4-2).

Serbia and Scotland in League B

There was another all-Bayern affair in Group B2 as Samantha Kerr and Jovana Damnjanović met in a fair 0-0 draw between Scotland and Serbia. On Matchday 2, Damnjanović fired the Serbian side to a 4-2 win over Israel with two goals, while Kerr and Scotland beat Slovakia 1-0.

Germany U19s qualify for EUROs

At youth level, the German U20 team, featuring FCB duo Alara Şehitler and Sarah Ernst, contested two friendlies against USA and Canada. The meeting with the Americans ended in a goalless draw, the second match in a comfortable 4-0 win for the Germans.

Meanwhile, Germany's U19s have successfully qualified for the European Championship. With three wins over Romania, Hungary and Sweden, the German youngsters confidently booked their place at this summer's finals in Lithuania. Both Laura Gloning and Carla Schwarz played their part in the success.
