Linda Sembrant will be staying at FC Bayern Women for another year after the 37-year-old central defender signed a new contract until 2025. The 147-time Sweden international originally moved to Munich on loan from Juventus in the winter.
'Linda has become an important point of contact'
Bianca Rech, head of FC Bayern Women: “Linda immediately took on a very important role in the team in January. She played a big part in our success this season and in winning the Bundesliga. She integrated really well right from the start, quickly brought all her experience to the team, and has become an important point of contact for players and coaches. We’re extremely pleased that Linda is not ending her career in the summer but is staying with us for another year. Linda has told us that it is something unique for her here at FC Bayern, that she feels very comfortable and has been very well welcome. That reinforces how we want to treat each other and work together every day. And we are delighted that Linda is continuing on this journey with us.”
Linda Sembrant: “I've only been here for a few months, but I immediately felt at home in Munich and at FC Bayern. The team and the club are great and have made me feel very welcome. I've really enjoyed my time here and I'm all the more pleased that it's not coming to an end in the summer. I want to achieve even more with FC Bayern next season than we did this year. I think I can contribute to success; I want to help the team and contribute my experience. FC Bayern wants to win titles, and that's what I want too.”
Since moving to Munich in January, Sembrant has played 13 games for Bayern, scoring a goal in the 4-0 home win against Freiburg. The Swede also won the Bundesliga in her debut season with the club.
