FC Bayern Women have secured their first title of the new season with a 1-0 win over Wolfsburg on Sunday to lift the Google Pixel Supercup. Club president Herbert Hainer, CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and board member for sport Max Eberl send their congratulations to Alexander Straus and his team.
Herbert Hainer, FC Bayern president: “Big congratulations to our FC Bayern Women on winning the inaugural edition of the women’s Supercup. This first title to start the season underscores our ambitions to win the Bundesliga for a third year in a row, to finally win the DFB Cup again, and to go far in the Champions League. We’re looking forward to the season ahead.”
Jan-Christian Dreesen, FC Bayern CEO: “First game, first title – that’s exactly how you imagine the start of a season at Bayern. Congratulations and big praise to coach Alexander Straus and his team, and to director Bianca Rech. This success is further evidence of our continuously top-class work at FC Bayern Women, who continue their outstanding run with this win and are seamlessly building on last season’s achievements. Three Bundesliga titles in the last four nears, now the Supercup – the trophy collection is growing!”
Max Eberl, FC Bayern board member for sport: “When you win the first title right at the start of your competitive fixtures, then you’ve done a lot – if not everything – right. We’re delighted about our FC Bayern Women winning the Supercup. After the Olympics, where we had four bronze medallists, pre-season with the full squad was short, so this victory says a lot more about the work and structures of our women’s management. Now it’s about taking the momentum into the new season. Keep it up!”
