New impetus for the cooperation between FC Bayern Women and the ‘Mädchen an den Ball’ ('Girls on the Ball') initiative: Joachim Herrmann, the Bavarian Minister of State for the Interior, Sport and Integration, has become the patron of the project, which aims to inspire young girls to play football and teach values such as team spirit, discipline and commitment. The Bayern Women players have been mentoring the young sportswomen in joint training sessions since the start of this season. Nathalie Bischof, coordinator of talent development at FC Bayern Women, as well as Nike Herrmann and Carla Schwarz from the second team were present at the announcement of the new patronage alongside some of the young footballers from ‘Mädchen an den Ball’.
Joachim Herrmann: 'Exemplary project'
"For 17 years now, this exemplary project has been offering young women in various cities in Germany – in Bavaria currently in the cities of Munich and Augsburg – the opportunity to experience the fun and joy of playing football," said sports minister Herrmann. "The project unites the girls regardless of their origin, language, religion or supposed disability. I am particularly impressed by the project's approach to integration, communicating values and promoting health through sport. That's why I was happy to take on the patronage of ‘Mädchen an den Ball’ in Bavaria."
Joint training sessions already in full swing
Eszter Reszler and Paula Rintzner from FCB Women reserves recently visited the project for a joint training session. The Munich women want to support the young players as role models and points of contact in their personal development. Nathalie Bischof underlined the significance of the initiative: "As part of our cooperation with 'Mädchen an den Ball', our U20 players pass on their knowledge and passion of football. This exchange is an enriching experience for all involved."
