A total of 17 FC Bayern Women players have been called up for their national teams to take part in the Nations League, SheBelieves Cup and friendlies this month. Six Germany call-ups
Four players will be in action for Germany’s senior team over the first two matchdays of the UEFA Women’s Nations League in Gwinn, Linda Dallmann, Lea Schüller and Klara Bühl. They begin their campaign against the Netherlands in Breda on Friday, 21 February before hosting Sarah Zadrazil’s Austria in Nuremberg on Tuesday, 25 February. Gwinn had previously deputised for Alexandra Popp as captain but has now been handed the honour on a permanent basis following Popp’s international retirement. “She’s opinionated and someone who leads from the front on and off the pitch. She’ll be an outstanding captain,” enthused Wück.
Ena Mahmutovic and Alara Şehitler have also been called up for Germany’s U23s to play friendlies against England on 20 February and the Netherlands four days later.
In action across Europe
Bayern’s second largest contingent will be in action with Sweden as Linda Sembrant, Magdalena Eriksson and Julia Zigiotti kick off the Nations League against Pernille Harder’s Denmark on 21 February. Captain Glódís Perla Viggósdóttir will also be playing for Iceland, Tuva Hansen for Norway, new signing Arianna Caruso for Italy, Weronika Zawistowska for Poland and Jovana Damnjanović for Serbia in the Nations League. Momoko Tanikawa will be competing in the SheBelieves Cup in the USA with Japan.
