




German champions! FC Bayern Women triumphed 3-1 against SC Freiburg on Sunday to secure the Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga title on Matchday 20. Head coach Alexander Straus’ side have been crowned with two matches to spare. Club president Herbert Hainer, CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and board member for sport Max Eberl congratulated the team on this outstanding success.

Herbert Hainer (FC Bayern president): “We’re incredibly proud of this special title for our FC Bayern Women. Three times in a row: only our men have previously achieved this, and it’s the next milestone and the next statement in a magnificent development. On Thursday we have the chance of the double in the cup final – we’re witnessing another Bayern team here who are making their own history!”

Jan-Christian Dreesen (FC Bayern CEO): “The third league title in a row underlines the consistent progress of our women’s team – and their increased stability over the years. Big credit goes to our director Bianca Rech because these successes are the results of meticulous work and long-term planning. Congratulations to all the players as well as the entire team behind the team – and not least thanks to Alexander Straus. The goal is now to send him off with a historic double.”

Max Eberl (FC Bayern board member for sport): “Being German champions three times in a row doesn’t just mean being more successful than the competition, it also means developing renewed hunger for wins season after season. That’s what defines great teams. This repeated title defence shows that FC Bayern not only has the highest ambitions in men’s football – now we want to do everything to ensure that there’ll be a joint title celebration on the Town Hall balcony on 18 May.”
Cup final on Thursday
The season could get even better for Bayern Women on Thursday 1 May as they look to complete the double in the DFB Cup final against SV Werder Bremen. Kick-off at the RheinEnergieSTADION in Cologne is at 16:00 CEST.
