'Proud to be part of it' – Kett, Dunst and Gwinn on the visibility and growth of women's football

For the third time this season, the Allianz Arena will be the big stage for FC Bayern Women on 1 April at 18:45 CEST (tickets here). When the double winners take on Manchester United in the north of Munich, it will be about much more than just 90 minutes: it will be about visibility, growth and confidence on the big stage.

On the occasion of International Women's Day, Giulia Gwinn, Franziska Kett and Barbara Dunst talk about the development of the sport – and why matches at the Allianz Arena have a special social significance. “It’ll never be something we take for granted. It’s a great honour every time we play at the Allianz Arena,” stresses Gwinn. For Dunst, this honour goes even further: “A lot has changed for the better in recent years. The values that women’s football brings with it are very important.” The Austria international sees herself as part of the change: “We’ve always tried to drive things forward, to make a difference and to change things. It’s very nice to be a role model for many young girls – just as it is to be part of this era.” Kett too emphasises the added social value of matches at the Allianz Arena and points out the sporting development: “With every game, we give people something. We’re more professional and play more attractive and better football nowadays. The many spectators who follow our games are great motivation.”
