Rech: ‘Anna will bring extra stability to our goalkeeping team’
FC Bayern Women director Bianca Rech: “We’re delighted Anna is returning to FC Bayern. She knows the club, the environment and many of her teammates very well, which will make it easier for her to settle in during the summer of 2027 and will bring extra stability to our goalkeeping team. The upcoming loan spell gives her a chance to gain further match experience at the highest level. With her experience and professional attitude, she will then strengthen our team and can support our young goalkeepers in particular.”

Anna Wellmann: “FC Bayern is one of the world’s biggest sports clubs but feels like a big family to me. The team, the people around it and the close connection with the fans make the club special to me. In a way, it feels like coming home. I know my role in the team and can play and train at the highest level here. Munich has become my home to some extent over the years. The loan move to Spain gives me the chance to play in special matches against teams like Real Madrid or Barcelona and gain valuable match experience before returning to FC Bayern.”
A career made in Bavaria

Anna Wellmann was born in Xanthen, North Rhine-Westphalia, on 19 May 1995. However, Bavaria was the centre of her footballing career from an early age. After first spells at ASV Hiltenfingen, SpVgg Kaufbeuren and Regionalliga side TSV Schwaben Augsburg, the goalkeeper joined FC Bayern for the first time in 2016. She moved on to Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the winter of 2019, followed by another spell in the Bundesliga with 1. FFC Turbine, where Wellmann played from 2021 to 2023. She returned to FC Bayern Women in July 2023 and enjoyed great success with the team. They won the German championship title in 2023/24 and 2024/25, the DFB Cup in 2024/25 and the Supercup in 2024. The 31-year-old joined Sporting Lisbon last summer. She made 16 appearances for the Portuguese side, finished runners-up in the league and played in the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup Round of 16 and quarter-finals.
