FC Bayern Women visit Hoffenheim looking to complete unbeaten campaign

FC Bayern Women bring down the curtain on the 2023/24 Google Pixel Bundesliga season as they visit Hoffenheim for Matchday 22 on Monday. Kick-off at the Dietmar-Hopp-Stadion is at 3.30pm CEST. Glódís Viggósdóttir and her team will be pushing to make it 11 wins from 11 in the second half of the campaign before they are presented with the Meisterschale after the game for the second year running. Here’s all you need to know ahead of the match in our preview.

State of play

Bayern secured the title once again with a 2-1 win away at Bayer Leverkusen on Matchday 20, before a 4-0 victory at home to Nürnberg last weekend thanks to Pernille Harder’s first-half hat-trick. Lea Schüller rounded things off at the FC Bayern Campus.

The Munich ladies are now looking to make it 19 wins from their 22 games this campaign with another three points at Hoffenheim. Bayern are on 57 coming into the final round, seven ahead of Wolfsburg in second and a 16 above third-placed Eintracht Frankfurt.

Opponent: Hoffenheim

Hoffenheim are currently fifth in the table on 34 points. Their push for a Champions League spot has stumbled in recent weeks, with coach Stephan Lerch’s side unable to win any of their last four games. A draw with Köln has since been followed by defeats to Essen, Frankfurt and RB Leipzig.

A free-kick from Klara Bühl settled the reverse fixture in Munich to give Bayern a winning start to 2024.

Team news

For this final game of the season, head coach Alexander Straus remains without Franziska Kett (muscular), Ana Maria Guzman (knee), Tainara and Alara Sehitler (both ill). Weronika Zawistowska and Cecilia Ran Runarsdottir are both in training again after their injuries but not yet available to return.

Pre-match quotes

Alexander Straus: “Hoffenheim are a very good team. We know that. We want to perform as we always do. Our goal is to remain unbeaten and to have conceded only seven goals come the end of the season. That means we go into the game with full focus and will do our all to have that winning mentality on the pitch.”

Giulia Gwinn: “We know we’ve got a tough game ahead. But I’m sure we’ll play against Hoffenheim just like we’ve done in recent weeks. We haven’t lost a game in the league, and we want to keep that run up, ideally with three points. We want to crown the season with the trophy on Monday and head home with a good feeling.”
