Exhibition for 20 years of the Allianz Arena

20 Years of the Allianz Arena - Beacon, Home, Stage

The opening match as the starting point of the ‘summer fairytale’ in 2006, the fastest goal in Champions League history by Roy Makaay or the dramatic ‘Finale dahoam’ – football history has been made time and again at the Allianz Arena over the last two decades. But the Allianz Arena is much more besides: an architectural masterpiece, a Munich landmark and the spiritual home of the sports club with the biggest membership in the world. That’s why from 21 June 2025, the FC Bayern Museum is highlighting the history and stories surrounding this unique stadium with its special exhibition ‘20 Years of the Allianz Arena – Beacon, Home, Stage’.

‘Munich shines’ – History of an architectural icon

The entrance area of the exhibition is dedicated to the ‘Beacon’ Allianz Arena with its characteristic diamonds, and illustrates the development history of the Arena – from the search for a location through the referendum and the architectural competition to the stadium construction. A documentary film about the construction process and spectacular exhibits like a replica of the foundation stone, a luminous model of the Arena and a replica of an air cushion from the Arena’s facade vividly present the visitors with the development of the Allianz Arena into an architectural icon.

Welcome to the home of FC Bayern

The ‘Home’ section of the exhibition showcases the day-to-day operation of the stadium, putting the spotlight on the people who have made the Allianz Arena a world-renowned home for the club over the last 20 years. First there are the fans, whose tifos and chants can be seen and heard at a number of stations. Then there are the players, decision makers and employees who tell of their defining experiences from 20 years at the Arena.

Big sport on the big stage

Above all, though, the Allianz Arena has been the setting for unforgettable football matches since 2005, as the ‘Stage’ area of the exhibition visualises. Visitors can sit in an original row of seats from the stadium and enjoy the highlights of the most significant matches at the Allianz Arena – from the opening games of the 2006 FIFA World Cup and 2024 European Championship to title deciders and memorable Champions League nights. Historic exhibits – such as the match ball from the 2012 ‘Finale dahoam’ or the honorary gifts from FCB Women’s Arena debut against Paris Saint-Germain – as well as a look back at other sporting and cultural events bring the ‘Stage’ Allianz Arena to life in all its facets.

Admission to the special exhibition is included in the entrance price for the FC Bayern Museum.
