As well as admiring Bayern’s considerable collection of silverware, visitors to the FC Bayern Erlebniswelt on Friday 7 September will also be able to marvel at the American NFL trophy. As part of its German tour through Hamburg, Cologne, Berlin and Munich, the Vince Lombardi Trophy will be making a one-day stop at the German record champions’ club museum.
It will be on display from 10:00-18:00 (CEST) and we can already tell you: it’s quite a sight. Weighing 3.5 kilograms and produced by Tiffany & Co., the 55cm-tall sterling silver trophy – which features a life-size football – is worth around €17,000. A new version is produced every year, with Super Bowl winners Philadelphia Eagles collecting the most recent trophy in February. The new NFL season starts on 6 September and a new champion will be crowned on 3 February 2019.
Before that, the Vince Lombardi Trophy is touring through Germany, home to around 17 million NFL fans, from 31 August to 8 September. Enthusiasm for this great sport is huge. Football meets football – what’s not to like? Please note that the trophy will be located in the FC Bayern Erlebniswelt and therefore an entry ticket is required.
