Hansi Flick has written history with his team. The head coach has now made a permanent mark with the presentation of the historic success of the treble at the FC Bayern Museum. “There’s a lot of hard work behind the titles and the team has given everything and played every game with huge motivation,” said Flick looking at the three trophies.
Shortly after the start of preparations for the new season, the 55-year-old brought the UEFA Champions League trophy to the redesigned exhibition area at the museum in the Allianz Arena. The trophy now stands next to the Bundesliga Meisterschale and the DFB Cup, reflecting the outstanding season for FC Bayern.
It saw Flick fulfil his promise from July. On securing the domestic double, he announced he wanted to “give everything” to be able to present the third trophy to the club museum.
A triumph of the whole club
Following on from Jupp Heynckes in 2013, Flick is now the second treble-winning coach in the history of the German record champions. The 1-0 victory in the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain was the crowning achievement in a season that saw FCB dominate all three competitions. But Flick has already declared: “We are setting ourselves new targets and are ready to go for the new season. It’s important for us to be fully focused for the Bundesliga opener against Schalke and that’s what we’ve set out for the game next Friday.”
FC Bayern can now look back at 30 league titles, 20 DFB Cup wins and six titles in Europe’s premier club competition – all the trophies can be seen at the FC Bayern Museum. The special treble feeling is now tangible for FC Bayern fans at the new exhibition area.
