The team at the FC Bayern Museum were happy to undertake this small renovation - adding one more pedestal to the display cabinet, labelling it, and then finally, bringing in the new trophy. For the time being, the cabinet can only be presented to the fans digitally as a photo, but this is still a special time for the museum, even without visitors. Here is the FIFA Club World Cup trophy!
Visitors can already look forward to the re-opening, because during the closure of the Allianz Arena, the 2020 Quintuple has secretly and quietly turned into the "Sextuple". In addition to the championship trophy, the DFB Cup, the Champions League, the UEFA Supercup and the German Supercup, the Club World Cup trophy now completes the incredible collection of FC Bayern titles in the Museum. Six trophies shimmer in gold and silver - they represent the most successful year in the club's 121-year history to date.
134 days of waiting were worth it
A look at the trophy cabinet is a look back - a whole 134 days passed between the fifth and sixth titles of the season, but the wait was worth it for Hansi Flick's team.
On 11 February 2021, FC Bayern were officially crowned the best club team in the world. After the 2-0 win in the semi-final against Al Ahly Cairo, a goal by Benjamin Pavard (59') was enough to win the final of the Club World Cup in Doha (Qatar) against Tigres UANL. 8000 spectators celebrated with Bayern under strict coronavirus regulations in the Education City Stadium. FCB achieved something truly historic with their second triumph in this competition after 2013: only FC Barcelona have previously won all six titles in a season, back in 2008/09.
The record season trophy cabinet is now full, but there is still hunger for more. Greetings from the museum. The team are ready for further renovations in the coming years ...
