A Munich Match

High culture meets top-level sport as the Munich Kunsthalle and the FC Bayern Museum are forming a cooperation under the name ‘A Munich Match’ that will bring these leading institutions in Munich's museum landscape closer together and create attractive incentives for a visit. People who are interested can therefore benefit twice from this cooperation, which sees visitors save 20 percent on the admission price at the other museum through the "Show-your-Ticket" campaign. *

A new attraction for Munich’s museum landscape

"The Munich Kunsthalle has been providing important impetus for Munich's cultural life for decades, as has the FC Bayern Museum in documenting the club's history," explains Dr Roger Diederen, director of the Kunsthalle. "With this in mind, I look forward to creating synergies for the presentation of the two museums to the public through this cooperation." "Traditionally, the FC Bayern Museum is all about exciting 'matches'," adds Petra Leufstedt, director of the FC Bayern Museum. "Nevertheless, this 'Munich Match' with the Kunsthalle is also a very special opportunity for us to inspire new target groups for the FC Bayern Museum and at the same time bring our visitors closer to the outstanding exhibitions at the Kunsthalle."

"A successful team thrives on the strength of its individual partners. The Kunsthalle as one of the most renowned exhibition centres in the country and the FC Bayern Museum as the largest club museum in Germany both set standards in their fields," says Dr Michael Diederich, deputy CEO of FC Bayern München AG. "We are delighted that these two strong players are now jointly enriching Munich's museum landscape with an attractive programme."

Art and culture in the heart of the city

With around 350,000 visitors a year, Munich’s Kunsthalle is one of the best-known exhibition centres in Germany. Located in the Fünf Höfe area, three major exhibitions on a wide variety of themes are shown each year, from painting, sculpture and graphic art to photography, arts and crafts, design and fashion. Monographic exhibitions and thematic projects alternate, but interdisciplinary approaches also find their place in the varied programme of the Kunsthalle. The Kunsthalle is the most important and best-known institution of the Hypo-Kulturstiftung. The foundation was established in 1983 by the then Hypotheken- und Wechselbank to mark the company’s 150th anniversary.

Experience football history and more

With over 450,000 visitors a year, the FC Bayern Museum is one of the most popular museums in Munich. Since its opening in 2012, a permanent exhibition, varying special exhibitions, programmes for school classes and special projects and various activities for fans and visitors have brought the history of Germany's biggest and most successful football club and all its fascination to life at close quarters and in a very emotional way. The FC Bayern Museum is Germany's largest club museum and deliberately looks beyond the football pitch. It utilises the charisma of the club to highlight cultural, social and societal issues.
