Goals for the ages. 75 years of Gerd Müller

"Goals for the ages. 75 years of Gerd Müller." is a special exhibition FC Bayern want to use to thank "Der Bomber der Nation" and emphasise his unique importance for the club. It was completed on time for Müller's 75th birthday in November 2020, and will run until the end of 2021. Guests of the museum will have the unique opportunity to learn numerous details about Gerd Müller the goalscorer and the person - including newly researched and previously unknown information.

Several installations will display data, facts and emotional stories about the man whose goalscoring exploits are still unmatched to this day. The focus is primarily on the statistics, which make the unbelievable work of Der Bomber on the pitch tangible for later generations. 365 goals in 427 Bundesliga games speak for themselves - just like the record 40 goals in the 1971/72 season. A total of 1,251 goals in competitive and friendly matches for FC Bayern is simply an incredible number!

Müller: a genius on and off the pitch

The fact that Müller was not only top scorer seven times, but also shone as an assist provider, can be seen on a special graphic. One topic to smile about is the terrible record that numerous Bundesliga goalkeepers had against the Bayern striker at the time. Nobody suffered more than Horst Wolter, who had to fish the ball out of the net 20 times over the years.

His genius in front of goal was well known, so it's not surprising that he was adored around the world. But beyond the penalty area - his favorite terrain, of course - he was an ambitious player and almost unbeatable at Bavarian card game Schafkopf.
