FC Bayern Munich opened their Allianz Women's Bundesliga season with a point against last year's vice-champions, 1. FFC Frankfurt. With Tinja Korpela, Caroline Abbe, Melanie Leupolz, Mana Iwabuchi, Katie Stengel and former Frankfurt player and captain, Melanie Behringer, Bayern fielded six new players in the starting lineup after a summer full of changes.
The guests took an early lead in the seventh minute as Bayern's defense was still trying to organize itself. Soon, though, Bayern got into the game and equalized in the 28th minute thanks to a goal by Eunice Beckmann. The game settled after that and both sides had to split the points in the end. "We were the dominant side in the first half," said coach Thomas Wörle, "but we failed to score the second goal. In the second half, Frankfurt were the stronger team, but overall I am very satisfied."
