FC Bayern had an impressive showing on Saturday night in Gainesville in their friendly against the University of Florida "the Gators" and ran out 4-0 winners thanks to goals from Bürki (37.), Katie Stengel (63.), Eunice Beckmann (69.) and Laura Feiersinger (88.). The match was a great warm-up in preparation for what will surely be an intensely competitive second half to the Allianz Women's Bundesliga.
Thomas Wörle was forced to adjust his backline a bit. For the injured Nora Holstad and Caroline Abbe came Viktoria Schnaderbeck next to Gina Lewandowski and Raffaella Manieri. On the right started national team player Leonie Maier with Katharina Baunach on the left from the start. The two holding midfielders were captain Melanie Behringer and Melanie Leupolz with Mana Iwabuchi, Vivianne Miedema and Vannesa Bürki filling out the rest of the line-up. Newcomer Dagný Brynjarsdóttir had to wait a while for her first minutes with the club.
Fans in Germany who stayed up well past midnight had the opportunity to send their questions live to national players Lena Lotzen and Sarah Romert via Twitter using the hashtags #FragLena and #FragSarah. Both players are currently undergoing individual rehabilitation after their injuries.
Coach Wörle will continue to refine the team's tactical game in the coming days until the end of the training camp, which will be higlighted by another exhibition game, this time against the U20 United States national team. The match will take place on Wednesday, January 27 in Orlando at 6:00pm EST.
