FCB Basketball wins first practice game vs. Trento

FC Bayern München’s basketball players won their first game against Dolomiti Energia Trento 76:67 (35:35). The MVP for Bayern was Nihad Djedovic with 24 points. "It was hard after the recent intensive sessions. But we fought hard, did a lot of things well, and the young players put in a good performance. Of course, we still have a lot of work to do," said Djedovic after the game.

Both teams needed a couple of minutes to get into the swing of things in front of over 1000 spectators in PalaGarda in Riva del Garda. After finding themselves eight points behind half way through the second quarter, Svetislav Pesic’s team started to find their feet, and managed to tie the half (35-35).

After swapping sides, the Bavarians side introduced Karim Jallow and Richard Freudenberg, and took the lead for the first time. The defense was especially good, with FCBB only conceding ten points in the third quarter (56:45).

After almost five minutes however, the PalaGarda was rocking again. The home team has put together a run of 12 points without reply, and the game was there for the taking (60:59/36). Despite the exertions from pre season, Bayern, who had Andreas Seiferth making his debut and Deon Thompson making his comeback, gathered all their strength and built a lead up again.

FCBB head coach Svetislav Pesic was pleased at the end of the five-day training camp in Trentino: "For our first game it was a good performance. It was an important game, because we have a lot of young players who were able to get minutes on the court. The good atmosphere here and the big number of supporters surprised me. We felt very welcome, and would happily come again next year."
