FC Bayern Munich is announcing today the club will expand into Latin America. The club is also announcing its extending the contract with US Managing Director, Rudolf Vidal, for another three years until February 2020.

Over the next three years, FC Bayern Munich will further strengthen its presence in the US and will now expand its focus to the Latin American market where soccer is already a passion point for fans. The club will look to apply the same dedication and intensity to creating valuable, relevant, customized experiences that will bring fans in Latin America closer to Bayern, its traditions, values and culture.

Since the club’s US office opening in the summer of 2014, Rudolf Vidal has managed FC Bayern’s US operation with great success.  The number of official fan clubs in America grew from eight to more than 100 across 37 different states. Furthermore, six media partnerships were announced, new sponsorship partners secured, two successful Audi Summer Tours took place and several soccer camps were held around the country. To better engage American fans, FC Bayern launched US-specific digital platforms, including website, mobile app, online shop and various social media channels.

“With Rudi Vidal, we have an expert leading our team in the US, which has been doing great work in recent years,” says Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, executive board chairman of FC Bayern Munich.

Jörg Wacker, board member for internationalization and strategy at FC Bayern, added: “We are happy to continue and even expand this successful cooperation. Latin America is an interesting market for us. We want to engage with our existing fans in this region as well as gain new fans.”

“I sincerely thank the board of FC Bayern Munich for their trust and look forward to the upcoming challenges. I’m convinced that we can strengthen the FC Bayern brand in Latin America and build a closer connection between our fans and our club.”
