Knockout phase of the UCL announced

Increase font size Text size

One competition is still to be completed by FC Bayern in this 2019/20 season - the Champions League! On August 7 or 8 (exact date not yet finalized), the side from Munich will play Chelsea FC in the second leg of the last 16 in the Champions League. As UEFA announced on Thursday, this match will take place - unfortunately without spectators - in the Allianz Arena. Here, FCB will attempt to defend their 3-0 lead from the first leg and progress into the quarterfinals, to be held in Lisbon.

The timetable for a mini-tournament was drawn on Friday. From August 12, the remaining eight teams will battle it out in Portugal's capital to reach the final (to be played on August 23). If Bayern beat Chelsea, they will face the winners of FC Barcelona vs. Napoli SSC in the quarterfinals. Both the quarterfinals and semifinals will be played this year as single-leg knockout rounds at a neutral ground, not with a return leg as is otherwise always the case.

Reaction to the draw will follow shortly...

Fixture dates:

7-8 August: Round of 16 second leg matches (at stadiums of home teams)
12-15 August: Quarter-finals (Lisbon)
18-19 August: Semi-finals (Lisbon)
23 August: Final (Lisbon)

Kick-off time for all games is 21:00 CEST. UEFA will confirm the exact date of each fixture at a later time.

QF4: Atalanta - Paris Saint-Germain

SF1: Quarter-final 1 - Quarter-final 3
