Sunday in Giessen

After the rivalry game win over Bamberg (85-78) the basketball players of FC Bayern Munich clinched the first seed in the playoffs and now have home-court advantage through the playoffs.  The opponent for the title defender will likely be decided only on the last day of the season, May 12th.

Before the Playoff start on May 18th Dejan Radonjic's team still has three games left to play starting with a 15:00 game on Sunday. Next Friday evening against Ulm (10.5., 20:30 o'clock) and finally May 12th in Bonn (18:00). "There are still many things we want to improve, so of course we take every game up to the playoffs very seriously and prepare ourselves conscientiously", said Radonjic.

Despite the secure position of his team, the goals of the German champion are clearly defined. On the one hand you want to make sure your players are rested before the knockout rounds - and on the other hand you could set a new club record. A year ago, the Bavarians finished the regular season in first place with only three losses, their best record in history and now they have only two losses despite also playing a brutal schedule thanks to the EuroLeague.

Good omen: In 2013/2014 the Munich team also won the BBL regular seaosn and later the title (regular season 29-5).

On Sunday in Gießen, the Bavarians (still without Robin Amaize/Knee) will meet a team that can also play without pressure. The 46ers could only win two out of the last ten games and had to put away their ambitions of making the playoffs. The individual value of the former FCBB center John Bryant (20 ppg), 10.3 rpg) as well as the second best offense in the league haven't been enough because in 22 of the 31 games they have given up 90 points or more to their opponent. The fact that Giessen can defeat every BBL team on good days has remained a fact and this is in no way a sure victory for Bayern.

Upcoming games:
- Sun, 5.5., 15:00: Gießen - FCBB

- Fri, 10.5., 20:30: FCBB - Ulm

- Sun, 12.5., 18:00: Bonn - FCBB
