There was nothing to be gained for Bayern in Valencia

The Bayern basketball team's away tour remains unsuccessful, at least in the EuroLeague: the German champions lost 64:90 (37:41) on Tuesday evening in front of 11,300 spectators in Valencia, with a very weak third quarter (12:27) once again leading to the decisive break. With their shooting percentages (17% from three-point range), Munich was unable to prevent the Spaniards from securing their fifth consecutive home win, and the FCBB's record slumped to 5:8.

After returning home, Bayern will take a four-day break from training, with Oscar da Silva and Justus Hollatz joining the national team. Next Thursday, the FCBB will be guests at Partizan Belgrade (December 4), and their next home game will be the almost sold-out “Music meets Basketball Vol 8” event with “Zartmann” on December 7 at BMW Park.

35:28 ahead (15th), then only 29 points

Bayern (Mayes and McCormack rested, Baldwin is still injured in the thigh) quickly acclimated to the formidable Roig Arena, with Lucic contributing seven points to make it 12:11 (7th). After another good first quarter (21:19), the next step should be to continue consistently.

Boxscore

The second quarter began with two steals by Jovic and a dunk by Giffey, with Jessup increasing the lead to 30:23. However, the foul limit had already been exceeded, providing even greater motivation for the Spaniards' strong one-on-one play (13th minute). And: Valencia went to the line, having not even received half as many fouls in the meantime. In this hectic situation, the lead was lost because open shots were not falling (3/17 three-pointers).

All over in three minutes

Three energy-less minutes resulted in a 39:53 deficit at the restart – that's how quickly a game can slip away in the EuroLeague. Valencia was now hitting three-pointers, while Bayern continued to miss (6/34) – 41:62 (27th minute). Bayern didn't give up, but their heads were often down. Valencia consistently played to its strengths and the visitors simply couldn't get anything going.

The quotes:

TJ Parker, Assistant Coach FC Bayern Basketball: “We played 15 minutes of good basketball. But in the second half, we just weren't there anymore. We gave up a lot of second chances. And in the second half, they just had a lot more energy.”

Oscar da Silva: "Unfortunately, that was a total failure in the second half. I don't know what caused it, but this is the second time in a row that we've lost our way in the second half. Everyone needs to pull themselves together and show more determination to win, even when they're playing badly, which happens. Attitude is the first thing we need to work on as a team. Then this kind of thing won't happen, and if we lose, we'll lose with dignity. We're straying too far from our system and no longer playing the team basketball that sets us apart and makes us good. Then this kind of thing happens."
