Bayern Munich have once again won the cup!

A perfect weekend culminates in celebration and Paulaner fountains: The Bayern basketball team has withstood the pressure of being the favorites and once again secured the cup. In a fully-packed BMW Park, the defending champions triumphed over Ulm in an exciting final with a score of 81:65 (35:28). This marks Bayern's fifth cup victory, with Sylvain Francisco (17 points) and Andi Obst (13) leading the scoring for the jubilant winners.

Harris Provides Energy

And here's how it unfolded: Booker made his comeback to the squad after his foot injury, and even the starting five saw changes. The hosts started nervously and missed the first shots, trailing 3:11 after four and 9:18 after ten minutes. The guards were initially effectively defended by the guests who had eliminated Ulm.

The strong veteran, Harris, then brought energy off the bench - finally igniting his team, which naturally took the lead with Lucic's first Munich three-pointer, making it 20:18 (13.). Bayern dominated the rebounds, and their defense now seized the initiative energetically.

Obst from the Outside

The second half: 44:22 after Bolmaro's three-pointer and the next clever move by Giffey - the clearest lead so far, Laso's men now seemed determined.

Only in the midst of emotions did Ulm come back (46:42/27.), it was now a physical fight. Two three-pointers from Obst quickly shifted the momentum back to the Munich side, along with the careful play of Francisco: 59:47 before the last ten minutes.

Party, Party, Party!

Here, FCBB controlled the score, Harris continued to rub off successfully, and Francisco was (somewhat early) greeted with MVP chants. When Obst hit from outside again for 69:52 (34.), preparations for the party could begin.

Reactions

Pablo Laso: "First of all, I want to thank everyone: my players, the organization, and everyone who works here every day for days like this. This is a title that comes after a lot of work throughout the year - everyone has their share. Also, respect to Ulm, I have a good connection with Anton and Juan. They also showed today what they are capable of. They had a tough game yesterday, but they were there for a long time and fought until the end. (...)

I am personally very happy; it is my first title in Germany. It's still a bit early, but I am very proud of how everyone here works for such goals. (...) It was a tough weekend, and even though we might not always have shown our best basketball, we were always there. Because it's about more than just making shots: It's about defense, rebounds, setting screens, and staying focused. And in that regard, I have to give my players the highest grade. We showed the character that we wanted to show as a team. (...)

Now that it's over, I can say that I don't really like these tournaments at home. Because everyone says that you will win. But it's not that easy. Well, I can tell my family that I have fulfilled the mission. But now I definitely have to pay for the next meal."
