The summer break is coming to an end, and the Bayern basketball players are gradually arriving in Munich. Only the four World Cup participants from the cup-winning team are still waiting to join.
Among the summer additions, Leandro Bolmaro was the first to arrive at the BMW Park. The initial accommodation for the 22-year-old Argentine is the Leonardo Hotel Royal, but he will soon be able to move into his apartment in Schwabing. "I'm happy that it's finally starting, and I can't wait to get started and get to know everyone," says Leandro in his first interview, adding that he knows "FC Bayern is one of the best clubs in the world."
Newcomer Edwards, returnee Booker
A few days later, the remaining professionals and head coach Pablo Laso also arrived at the BMW Park: US guard Carson Edwards landed at Munich Airport, accompanied by his mother; shortly afterwards, former fan favorite Devin Booker returned after four years with Khimki and Fenerbahce, and he crossed paths with CEO Marko Pesic right in the office: "Welcome back!"
Booker's future big men teammate Freddie Gillespie arrived shortly after with Nick Weiler-Babb, and captain Vladimir Lucic is back in Munich now as well.
Fan event last Sunday, training kick-off was on Monday
The preliminary roster under Laso was completed for the official start of training last Monday morning with Niklas Wimberg, Eilas Harris, returning player Nelson Weidemann, who have been training individually in Munich for several days, as well as center Danko Brankovic and FCBB youngsters Martin Kalu and Ivan Kharchenkov.
Before the first official session, the Bayern team underwent their usual medical checks along with an initial internal Media Day. The first - not public - scrimmage will take place on September 2 against the French first division team SIG Strasbourg.
