Three-pointers and dunks galore in Bayern's 115:86 win

This arena remains in Munich's hands: 48 hours after its performance in Istanbul, FC Bayern Basketball also won its fifth game in the sold-out SAP Garden - after the 115:86 (62:42) in the German EuroLeague derby against Alba Berlin, FCBB's fine record stands at 7:3.

The German champions impressed in front of 11,200 fans with great enthusiasm, 26 assists, many dunks and strong ratings. The duo of Edwards and Booker stood out from a homogeneous team with a combined 43 points, while Weiler-Babb (12 without a miss/11 rebounds), Obst (11) and Napier (10) also scored in double figures.

Sunday against Bonn at BMW Park

On Sunday (3 p.m.), the top game for the Bundesliga top against Telekom Baskets Bonn will follow at BMW Park; only a few remaining tickets are still available online for this game.

Head Coach Gordie Herbert, who himself was suffering from a serious injury, dug deep into the bench early on. That hardly slowed down the flow in offense, but the defense was not at its best at all, especially against Spagnolo (23). As a result, Berlin produced a 9:0 run to take its first lead (23:24/8).

Of course, top scorer Edwards ignited the arena for good again: After three crazy threes by the US guard, it was suddenly 49:36 (16'). And the Italian Spagnolo was finally taken care of.

Bayern stretched the gap to 62:42 after winning the second period 34:15. The legs were surprisingly fresh, with all twelve players on court before half-time.

Da Silva ended the third quarter with Munich's 18th three - at the buzzer from behind the arc. Yebo made it 100 with a good six minutes to go. The rest was time-sharing on both sides and the visitors, who were short of substitutes, were able to reduce the deficit slightly. Nevertheless, the wave went through the party circuit, and rightly so.

Quotes

Gordon Herbert: “I liked the way we played in the last five minutes of the second quarter and then in the third quarter. We were more active in defense, we had pace and moved the ball in offense. And we hit shots. I really liked those 15 or 16 minutes - and the fact that it didn't go down to the final minute.”

Marko Pesic: “First of all, you have to congratulate our team on how focused they were right after the game in Istanbul. Of course, the win is good to get our streak back on track after the defeat. Berlin didn't have their best line-up, we mustn't forget that. There's no need to overrate the win, although it's very good. But we have another very important game against Bonn on Sunday.”

Oscar Da Silva: “It was a fantastic evening. The shots dropped, the crowd was thrilled. You like to ride a wave like that to victory. I caught the ball and looked at the shot clock on the other side and saw that there was still a second left. You've got nothing to lose with a shot like that. The third quarter was terrific from our side and in terms of scoring. With 96 points, there's not much to be gained if you don't completely switch off.”
