Never Done

80 YEARS FC BAYERN BASKETBALL

Anniversary Book Anniversary Event 80 years

FC Bayern Basketball was founded on March 1, 1946. From a division that emerged shortly after the war, a basketball story unfolded over eight decades — with early championships, long fallow periods, fresh starts, professionalization, and renewed sporting relevance.

“Never Done” captures this mindset. The slogan speaks not only to 80 years of history, but to the drive behind it. Never finished. Never complete. Never satisfied with the status quo.

Franz Kronberger was the driving force behind the founding of the department. A war injury ended his career as a soccer player. However, he found a new home at FC Bayern as a basketball player.

Anniversary book: FC Bayern Basketball. 80 Years. Never done.

These many milestones have been chronicled in “80 YEARS. NEVER DONE,” the book celebrating the 80th anniversary that FCBB and its community have given themselves as a gift. This vibrant, 335-page portrait of the FCB basketball division is filled with stories, numerous photos, and documents spanning eight decades of Bayern basketball. It has been published in a limited edition and will be available for the first time at the home opener on Sunday (Sept. 20, 6 p.m.) at BMW Park and in the fan shop.

In the name of the Pešićs

Svetislav and Marko move like a tidal wave—relentless and unshakable.
Two basketball legends, the kind only the Balkans can produce, destined to leave their mark on the game—no matter where their paths might lead.

Neither of them ever let obstacles stand in their way. Both chose to make history—the history of a club, of a movement in their adopted home—and they shaped it just as much as it shaped them.

Bavarian Achitecture

Architecture is more than just the art of building: it organizes, connects, and shapes parts into a meaningful whole. For FC Bayern Basketball, it means giving structure and a home to the Bavarian way of experiencing basketball—creating places that bring people together, embodying the spirit of “Mia san mia” and “We ball together,” and fostering a sense of belonging across generations.

Anniversary Event

FC Bayern Basketball celebrated its 80th anniversary at the Städtische Turnhalle on Säbener Straße, known as the “Säbener Halle.” Among the invited guests were President Herbert Hainer, Honorary President Uli Hoeneß, former sports director Marko Pesic, and former vice president Bernd Rauch.

An entertaining program featuring panel discussions, personal reflections, and a look toward the future paid tribute to the club’s eventful history. The event also honored Ernie Butler, who had a decisive influence on Bayern basketball.
