FC Bayern maintained their winning form, making it nine wins on the bounce with a supremely comfortable 5-0 victory over Dynamo Kyiv on Wednesday night. Robert Lewandowski handed Bayern a two-goal lead in the first half, Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sané and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting scoring in the second half.
The Bavarians lined up with Manuel Neuer in goal and Niklas Süle, Dayot Upamecano, Lucas Hernández and Alphonso Davies in a back four. Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka featured in a twin holding role behind Gnabry, Thomas Müller and Sané, with hitman Lewandowski up front. Benjamin Pavard, Jamal Musiala, Marcel Sabitzer, Bouna Sarr and Choupo-Moting took over from Davies, Gnabry, Goretzka, Sané and Lewandowski in the second half.
Lewy bags brace
The 25,000 crowd at the Allianz Arena saw Bayern hit the ground running, Sané seeing an effort saved before Müller found the net, but the goal was disallowed for a foul. Keeper Bushchan tipped a Lewandowski header over the bar but was unable to prevent the opener when Lewandowski stepped up to take a penalty awarded for handball.
Munich strangled the visitors, Süle miscuing from distance and Goretzka seeing a shot blocked, but Bayern made it two when Müller's through-ball found the charging Lewandowski, who slotted past Bushchan. Sané hit the post and Bushchan proved equal to a Kimmich free-kick before Neuer was called into action for the first time and made a strong save against de Pena, and match official Marco Guida blew for half-time.
Serge puts it to bed
Proceedings were similar in the second half, although Neuer had to rush out of his goal to beat Tsygankov to the ball. Goretzka and Lewandowski miscued, with Kimmich seeing an effort blocked. After a couple of half-chances, Bayern upped the pressure and closed out the meeting when Sané teed up Gnabry, who blasted home.
FCB had yet more salt to rub into the visitors' wounds, and Sané sprang a surprise when Bushchan expected a cross, but the Germany international blasted inside the near post. The final flourish came when a Pavard cross found Choupo-Moting, who rose high to head home.
Bayern will be back in action on Sunday, when they entertain Frankfurt in the Bundesliga. Their next Champions League match will be against Benfica on 20 October.
