State of play for Bayern

Thomas Tuchel's team secured a good springboard for the second leg with a spirited and convincing performance at Arsenal. The 2-2 draw in London showed "the true colours of FC Bayern", as sunCEO Jan-Christian Dreesen summed it up. The first step has been taken, and the Munich side are now aiming to showcase their Champions League form once again and finish among the top four teams in Europe for the first time in four years.

"We'll need everything again, the same commitment, passion and tactical discipline as in the first leg. We absolutely want to win the game," said the coach at his press conference ahead of the second leg at the Allianz Arena. At the same time, Bayern are looking to capitalise on their home advantage and create another magical night of European action with their fans. "We'll have to push ourselves to the limit and we'll need every spectator to fight with us, support us and push us to overcome this major hurdle together. We feel ready," added Tuchel.

Arsenal's run of success in the Premier League came to an end, of all things, during the dress rehearsal for the second leg in Munich. After picking up 31 out of a possible 33 points in the championship, the Gunners lost 2-0 at home to Aston Villa on Sunday and had to relinquish top spot in the table to rivals Manchester City. As after every defeat, the mood was "frustrated and sad", said Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta at the post-match press conference. But it was important to look ahead and make the most of the "great opportunity". The last time the club reached the semi-finals of the Champions League was in the 2008/09 season. "Sunday's game doesn't have any bearing on tomorrow. We're very focused, are ready and want to show it on the pitch," said Arteta, looking ahead to the game at the Allianz Arena.

Despite the setback in the league, Bayern are on their guard and are aware of the strengths of their upcoming opponents: "It's all very flexible, the transitions are fluid. You can recognise a lot of automatic, but also free-running moves," explained FCB coach Tuchel.

In addition to Alphonso Davies, who is suspended, Bayern will be without Serge Gnabry (muscle strain in his left hamstring), Kingsley Coman (muscular injury in his right adductor), Sacha Boey (hamstring injury), Bouna Sarr (ACL) and Tarek Buchmann (muscular injury) for the second leg. Captain Manuel Neuer and Leroy Sané, who were rested on Saturday in the league game against Köln (2-0), are back in the squad according to Tuchel.

According to Arteta, Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard are still doubtful for Arsenal, as both picked up knocks in the league game against Aston Villa. "We'll see tomorrow if they can play," said the Arsenal coach.
