
FC Bayern cleaned up at The Best FIFA Football Awards last Thursday, picking up five individual awards with Alphonso Davies, Joshua Kimmich and Robert Lewandowski in the 2020 FIFA FIFPro World11, Manuel Neuer being name The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper and Lewandowski crowning his incredible season with the title of The Best FIFA Men’s Player.

Fans of the treble winners were able to follow that incredible evening live and up close across the club’s media channels. The live stream of the show was watched by over 200,000 users on fcbayern.com and on the FC Bayern app. Stories on Instagram and a live stream of the international winners’ press conference on the FC Bayern YouTube channel meant fans missed nothing.

As well as the live coverage, there was also plenty of insight from behind the scenes on the club’s channels. For example, fans could share in the trophy handover from FIFA president Gianni Infantino as well as the newly crowned world’s best footballer Lewandowski arriving back home. Shortly before midnight came yet another big surprise as Arsenal legend Thierry Henry called to congratulate LewanGOALski.
11 million interactions on social media
In combination with the winner graphics and a photoshoot with the award recipients, “The Best” content around the ceremony garnered over 11 million fan interactions on social media and the accounts amassed 165 million impressions. The live handover of the trophy to Lewandowski itself was watched well over six million times. It was an all-round successful evening for FC Bayern.
