Power circuit and games to finish first week of training

Bayern’s players fully deserve their day off on Sunday after Dayot Upamecano & Co. faced an arduous power circuit to end their first week of pre-season training ahead of the 2021/22 campaign. Squats, press-ups and stability exercises on the exercise ball saw the FCB squad really pushed to their limits as they look to lay the foundations for a long and strenuous season.

Bayern players were sweating from various strength and stability exercises.

After that, they once again turned their attention to the ball. As he’d done all week, Julian Nagelsmann surprised with new and unusual games. The new head coach was also very involved again on Saturday and regularly halted proceedings to clarify his ideas.

Tactics board in action

“I’m a young, emotional coach,” the 33-year-old said in his introductory video on fcbayern.com, and he showed on his first days in the job that those were not empty words. Nagelsmann coaches with great commitment. He doesn’t just explain his ideas on the tactics board, which he always has with him on the pitch, but also joins in himself and personally demonstrates his instructions.

Chris Richards was again able to complete the full session with the team on Saturday and was lifting weights into the air like he’ll hopefully do with the Meisterschale come the end of the season.

After the first exhausting week with medical tests, performance diagnostics and five training sessions, Bayern now have a day off. The second week of training begins on Monday morning before the first friendly of pre-season against Köln on Saturday, 17 July (16:00 CEST).
