Lucas Hernandez and Kingsley Coman managed a last-minute victory in their friendly against the Ivory Coast, coming from behind to win 2-1 in Marseille. The Bayern duo both started for the world champions, who trailed after Nicolas Pepe’s 19th-minute opener. Oliver Giroud levelled not long after, before Aurelien Tchouameni’s added-time strike turned things around for Les Bleus. Benjamin Pavard wasn’t part of the France squad after catching COVID-19 last week.

Sarr and Choupo-Moting lose play-off first legs

Bouna Sarr and Senegal were beaten by Egypt in Cairo on Friday.

FCB’s Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Bouna Sarr both suffered 1-0 first-leg defeats in their World Cup qualifier play-offs. Choupo-Moting and Cameroon were beaten at home by Algeria after Islam Slimani’s goal. Sarr and Senegal went down to a Saliou Ciss own goal in the fourth minute against Egypt in Cairo in a repeat of February’s Africa Cup of Nations final. Both Bayern men played the full 90 minutes and still have a chance to book their place in Qatar in the second legs on Tuesday.

Tillman scores off bench for Germany U21s

Malik Tillman bagged his third goal in as many games for Germany’s U21s in the victory over Latvia.

Malik Tillman came off the bench in the 61st minute for the Germany U21s and scored to round off a 4-0 win in Euro 2023 qualification against Latvia in Aachen. Jonathan Burkardt and Ansgar Knauff also got on the scoresheet for Antonio di Salvo’s side. Germany now lead Group B after six wins in seven games. They are away at second-placed Israel – only two points behind – on Tuesday.
