Thomas Müller is back and feeling keen! A full day before the 32-year-old was due to start pre-season training with the obligatory performance tests, he already took to the pitch with his team-mates. Following the internationals in June, Müller, one of Bayern's most prolific players, had been given a few more days off by head coach Julian Nagelsmann, but he didn't want to wait that long.

New season, old Müller: The veteran led from the front again in the morning session on Monday, issuing plenty of commands and translating for one or two of his teammates. After starting off with some stability and passing exercises, the team focused mainly on four-on-four and two-on-two match-ups on the training pitch at Säbener Straße.

Last Friday, the first group of internationals including new signing Sadio Mané and Joshua Kimmich joined the team. On Tuesday, World Cup winners Müller, Manuel Neuer & Co will undergo performance diagnostics after a preliminary medical, thus completing Julian Nagelsmann's training group. On 18 July, the team will travel to the USA for the 2022 Audi Summer Tour. Before that, there's a packed week of pre-season training and the Allianz FC Bayern Team Presentation (tickets) on Saturday.
