There's no better way to sign off for the Bundesliga winter break! In FC Bayern Women's last league fixture of 2022 against Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Georgia Stanway provided the standout moment of a 2-0 win. The 24-year-old Englishwoman collected a fine pass from Sarah Zadrazil in space on the edge of the penalty area, and hammered an unstoppable shot into the top left corner from around 20 metres.
Stanway earns almost third of votes
Stanway looked almost disbelieving as she celebrated her wonder goal against Leverkusen in mid-December.
Fans of the German record champions also recognised the quality of the strike and chose it as their FC Bayern Goal of the Month for December. The midfielder received around 33 percent of the votes, seeing off Lovro Zvonarek of the FC Bayern reserves (27%) with his curling shot against Viktoria Aschaffenburg in the Bavaria Regionalliga, as well as Lea Schülle
Second award this season
Having also claimed the prize in October, it's the European champion's second award since her move to Munich last summer. On that occasion it was for her brilliant, last-second winner in the 3-2 victory over Benfica. Now Stanway has made another statement in her short time at FCB so far with the first Bundesliga goal of her career against the Werkself. Let's hope for more this year...
