A loud cry of celebration rang across the training pitch in Singapore on Monday morning as Kingsley Coman, Dayot Upamecano and Bouna Sarr celebrated the winning goal in a training game. Despite an intensive few days, the Bayern players were in a buoyant mood. In muggy 30-degree temperatures, the Bavarians worked up a sweat during the first session of the second stop on the Audi Summer Tour.
In the face of the testing conditions, Serge Gnabry and Co gave everything over the whole 90-minute workout. Whether it was Leon Goretzka, Matthijs de Ligt or Konrad Laimer – the players pushed each other again and again. Coach Thomas Tuchel was pleased with the performance of his players, praising the rhythm. Following the warm-up and strengthening exercises, the programme consisted of passing and match situation drills.
"We still need a bit more time to really internalise the processes. When we get that fluidity, I'm sure it'll be good," said midfielder Joshua Kimmich. It's two weeks until the first competitive fixture of the new season, the DFL-Supercup against RB Leipzig. Until then the Reds have plenty more busy days ahead. As well as the training sessions on the Audi Summer Tour, there's the big Singapore Trophy friendly against Liverpool on Wednesday (13:30 CEST) to round off the programme.
