Players never forget their first goal in the Champions League, especially when it was such a good and vital one as Mathys Tel’s debut strike. His goal to make it 4-2 against Manchester United helped settle the group game in emphatic fashion.
46 percent of votes
After a perfectly timed chip over the United defence by Joshua Kimmich, the 18-year-old coolly took the ball down on his thigh to then smash it into the roof of the net. It was a goal that Bayern fans certainly enjoyed, with 46 percent of voters picking Tel’s strike as their favourite Bayern goal from September. Leroy Sane’s equaliser against RB Leipzig (33%) and Konrad Laimer’s header in the DFB Cup against Preußen Münster (8%) completed the top three.
Second Champions League goal not long after
Tel’s first Champions League goal (in his sixth appearance) therefore brought his first Goal of the Month gong at Bayern. And he immediately added to his European tally with another strike in the 2-1 win away at Copenhagen. Perhaps that will also feature in the next vote in October.
The good news continues to come for Tel:
