While Bayern already have first place in the bag, the other three teams in Group A are fighting for the remaining last-16 spot on Matchday 6. In their concluding game at Manchester United on Tuesday night (21:00 CET), Thomas Tuchel's side will be doing their best not just to be fair to the competition, but also to be able to continue their record runs in the competition into next season: FCB have won each of their last eight away games in the group stage and are unbeaten in 39 first-round matches overall (W35 D4). Both are unmatched in the history of Europe's premier club competition. fcbayern.com has compiled some other facts and figures for you:
Strong record against Man Utd
In 12 competitive meetings to date – all in the Champions League – Bayern lead Manchester United with five wins (D5 L2). Only against FC Barcelona have the Red Devils suffered so many defeats in the competition. The Munich men do have a bit of making up to do at Old Trafford, though. Their only win in five visits there came in April 2001, when Paulo Sérgio netted in a 1-0 success.
Away wins aplenty
The travelling around Europe is worth it for Bayern, who have won six of their last seven away outings in the Champions League. The only loss in that period came in Manchester – in April of this year at United's rivals City in the quarter-finals (0-3).
Man Utd expert Kane
In the reverse fixture against United at the Allianz Arena, Harry Kane scored his first Champions League for Bayern. He's now been directly involved in nine goals in his last 11 competitive meetings against the Red Devils, scoring five and assisting four. His recent record at Old Trafford is particularly impressive, where he's netted four goals in his last five outings and set up another two. The striker could now achieve another first in the return match, as no English player has ever scored for any club other than Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Champions League. Time to change that, Harry!
United with backs against the wall
Even if they win on Tuesday night, Erik ten Hag's side will be dependent on the result in the other match between Copenhagen and Galatasaray for qualification to the knockout stages. The hosts find themselves in this difficult position after a poor Champions League campaign to date. United have squandered eight points from winning positions (joint most with Napoli) and have become the first team in UCL history to score three or more goals in three group games without winning any of them. The reason for that is clear: only Royal Antwerp have conceded more goals (15) in this season's competition than Man Utd (14).
