After kicking off the new year with an open training session on Tuesday, FC Bayern stepped up their preparations for the start of the second half of the season. On Wednesday, coach Thomas Tuchel's team had two sessions scheduled at Säbener Straße. However, Matthijs de Ligt had to sit out both of them due to a slight stomach bug, but Alphonso Davies returned to the pitch for the afternoon workout. The Canada international had been given an extra day off due to his long return journey.
Bayern return to Bundesliga action in ten days' time with a home game against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. Before that, they have a friendly at FC Basel next Saturday (6 January, 15:30 CET).
