Germany made it two wins from two games in 2024 with a 2-1 success against Netherlands last night. Jamal Musiala, Joshua Kimmich and Thomas Müller weren't the only Munich stars in international action on Tuesday evening. fcbayern.com rounds up the matches for you.
Germany win 2-1 against Netherlands
Following the 2-0 victory in France, the German national team also won their first home match in the year of the home EURO. Julian Nagelsmann's side triumphed 2-1 against Netherlands in Frankfurt. Joshua Kimmich (subbed off 78th minute) and Jamal Musiala both started, while Thomas Müller came on in the 73rd minute. FCB defender Matthijs de Ligt played the full 90 minutes for the Dutch.
Die Mannschaft fell behind early to Joey Veerman's fourth-minute strike, but equalised just seven minutes later when Musiala teed up Maximilian Mittelstädt from a corner, and the Stuttgart left-back found the net from 18 metres. Substitute Niclas Füllkrug won it for the hosts in the 85th minute, again from a corner.
Laimer wins with Austria against Turkey
Austria, captained by Bayern's Konrad Laimer, also registered a friendly win on Tuesday. Laimer started and played until the 88th minute as his side thrashed Turkey 6-1. Xaver Schlager's early opener for the Austrians was cancelled out by Hakan Çalhanoğlu's penalty in the 25th minute, but a quickfire hat-trick from Michael Gregoritsch either side of half-time gave the hosts a comfortable lead, which Christoph Baumgartner and Maximilian Entrup extended even further in the closing stages.
Minjae Kim with assist in South Korea win
South Korea and Minjae Kim took another important step towards the World Cup finals in 2026. The Taegeuk Warriors beat Thailand 3-0 in Bangkok, with Kim playing the duration and setting up the third goal for Jin-Seob Park in the 82nd minute. Jae-Sung Lee and Heung-Min Son netted the other goals for South Korea, who lead their group with 10 points from four matches.
Upamecano and Tel not involved
Bayern defender Dayot Upamecano was an unused substitute in France's 3-2 friendly win against Chile. Striker Mathys Tel didn't feature either in the French U19 team's final European Championship qualifier against Lithuania, which ended in a 2-0 defeat although the side had already secured their place at this summer's tournament in Northern Ireland.
