With fans behind them: Bayern hold first open training session

Let's do this – together! Watched by a large number of fans, FC Bayern held their first open training session of the new season on Saturday morning. Two days before the start of the training camp at Tegernsee, supporters of the German record champions got the opportunity to see head coach Vincent Kompany and his players at work. The large crowd of Bayern fans at Säbener Straße certainly got their money's worth.

Still without the EURO participants but with the likes of new signing Hiroki ItoAleksandar Pavlović and Mathys Tel, the Bavarians trained for over two hours, working up a sweat in high summer temperatures. The warm-up was followed by running, after which the first drills with the ball took place. On a small pitch around the halfway line, the group played against each other in two teams, with the emphasis on transitioning after winning the ball and finishing.

Head coach Kompany was heavily involved and engaged, always clearly communicating his ideas and thoughts. His charges completed short sprints in between the drills, before getting down to business in a larger training game. Combinations in tight spaces were the focus of the next exercise, which was played on a wide but very short pitch, with four small goals and one large net. The tempo remained high here and the players' efforts were acknowledged with loud applause from the fans at the end. The losing team then had to go through a guard of dishonour.
