Joshua Kimmich was the first to step onto the training pitch. With just a few long strides, the midfielder took to the turf and immediately grabbed a ball. He was followed just a moment later by Thomas Müller, who also went straight for another ball. It was plain to see - the returning players couldn't wait to get going again.
In addition to the pair, the other German EURO 2024 participants Manuel Neuer and Jamal Musiala, as well as FC Bayern's new Portuguese signing João Palhinha joined in with team training on Wednesday morning with real vigour. After completing their pre-season performance tests at the start of the week, they now got to work on the training pitch at Säbener Straße for the first time in the sizzling summer temperatures.
FC Bayern coach Vincent Kompany really challenged his players, especially during intensive match situation drills. New signing Palhinha, who had already expressed how much he was looking forward to his new job at a press conference the day before, was right in the thick of the action.
