Seoul win South Korea National Final

Seoul won the FC Bayern Youth Cup South Korea National Final this weekend, completing the ten-team line-up in the World Final in Germany. The teams battled it out for the triumph in the FC Bayern Youth Cup South Korea National Final at adidas THE BASE in Seoul for three days.

After the nine-team group stage on Thursday and Friday, the youth teams of FC Seoul, Suwon Samsung, Hwasungsi and Shinjeong Middle School advanced to the semi-finals staged on Saturday. Local heroes FC Seoul, whose first team play in the South Korean top tier, beat Suwon 9-5 in the five-against-five final. The youngsters were in for a treat: FC Bayern Legend Giovane Élber was on site for the trophy handover.

"The lads did a really good job in this heat, I'm glad they play with a smile on their face. The location is impressive," commented FC Bayern Legend Diego Contento, who followed the small-pitch tournament along with Élber: "There's a number of players who're really good." The best ten players compete as Team Korea in the big World Final at adidas "Home Ground" in Herzogenaurach from 15 to 20 October.

Contento drew a positive conclusion off the pitch too: "My impression of South Korea is very good. The people have a lot of respect and discipline." At the Youth Cup, the Bayern pros and the various  activities on the tour: there are only winners!
