Following in the footsteps of Gerd Müller, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Robert Lewandowski, Harry Kane was presented with the Torjägerkanone award for the 2023/24 season by CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and representatives of kicker editorial staff before kick-off in Bayern's home match against Freiburg at the Allianz Arena. The England captain scored 36 goals in his debut Bundesliga season to be crowned top goalscorer. It comes just a few days after he was recognised with the Golden Shoe as Europe's best goalscorer.
"Harry more than deserves this honour in front of a full Allianz Arena," said Dreesen during the trophy presentation. "To score 36 goals in your first Bundesliga season, surpassing the age-old record of Uwe Seeler. And his goals are just one thing. Harry is much more because he also provides assists and always leads by example, on and off the field. Harry Kane is one of the outstanding strikes of our age. As I always like to say, a 360-degree striker because he permanently has everything in his vision." FC Bayern are "proud and happy that he's shooting at goal for us and not at our goal in another club's shirt," added the CEO, before addressing the top goalscorer directly: "Harry, it's great that you're here, thank you for your performances and good luck this season, on behalf of everyone inside the Allianz Arena!"
Kane is the eighth Bayern recipient of the Torjägerkanone, joining Müller (won it seven times), Lewandowski (six), Rummenigge (three), Roland Wohlfarth (two), Giovane Elber, Roy Makaay, Mario Gomez and Luca Toni (one each).
Kane received the Golden Shoe on Tuesday as the best goalscorer in Europe in the 2023/24 season:
