Facts ahead of Bayern vs. Hoffenheim

As they did last season, Bayern end the first half of the 2024/25 campaign at home to Hoffenheim this Wednesday. The Bavarians prevailed 3-0 at the Allianz Arena 12 months ago to extend their unbeaten run on Matchday 17 to 22 games (W16, D6). The last time FCB completed the first half of a season with defeat was back in December 2001 away at Hansa Rostock (1-0). Here’s all the key stats that point to Vincent Kompany’s men continuing that run.

Home strength vs. away-day blues

Following Borussia Dortmund’s defeat to Bayer Leverkusen last Friday, Bayern remain the only team unbeaten at home in the Bundesliga this season. Their record at the Allianz Arena is an almost flawless 19 points from a possible 21, built on the team’s defensive strength. FCB have conceded only four goals in seven games at home in the Bundesliga this term, which is obviously the best total in the division. Things are quite different for opponents Hoffenheim, who have failed to win any of their last 11 competitive fixtures away from home (D5, L6) since beating Würzburger Kickers on penalties in the first round of the cup in their opening game of the season. The Sinsheim club also have the Bundesliga’s worst attack on the road with only four goals scored.

TSG claim most recent spoils

Hoffenheim proved once again in the most recent meeting with Bayern that they can be awkward opponents, winning 4-2 at home last May. They have earned 18 points from 16 Bundesliga encounters with FCB since the start of the 2016/17 campaign. Only Borussia Mönchengladbach have taken more points off the record champions in that time (20). However, most of those results have come in Sinsheim. On Munich soil, Bayern have lost only one of 17 competitive fixtures against TSG (W13, D3) and won four of the five meetings at the Allianz Arena since that sole defeat (2-1 in October 2019).

Kane matching Hoffenheim team

Harry Kane kept his cool once again at the weekend to put away the decisive penalty for Bayern to beat Gladbach 1-0. It means the England captain has now converted all 17 spot-kicks he’s taken in an FCB shirt. With a game still to go before the mid-point of the season, the striker has already directly contributed 20 goals in the Bundesliga this season (15 goals, five assists), which is as many as Hoffenheim as a team have scored in the league in 2024/25.

That man Andrej

Andrej Kramaric has haunted Bayern on a number of occasions down the years. In fact, there is no player in the German top flight right now who has scored as many goals against Bayern in the Bundesliga as the Croatian (eight). He was even directly involved in all four for Hoffenheim in May’s 4-2 win, bagging a hat-trick and setting up the other. If Hoffenheim are to end their run of eight competitive fixtures without a win (D3, L5), you suspect they will need Kramaric at his best once again.
