The meeting between Eintracht Frankfurt and FC Bayern on Saturday (18:30 CEST) not only pits fourth against first in the Bundesliga, but also the two best attacks so far this season against each other. What’s more, the two leading goalscorers face off in Harry Kane and Can Uzun. Read on for more facts, figures and stories around the Matchday 6 clash.

Attacks packed with records
Bayern have enjoyed the best start by a club in Bundesliga history with 15 points, 22 goals scored and three conceded after five matches. Never before has a team hit more goals in the opening five fixtures of a season. Frankfurt are now on 17 goals after the spectacular 6-4 success at Borussia Mönchengladbach – a new club record after five games.
But it’s the Munich men in particular whose start to the campaign has been like something out of a football fairytale. It’s the first time in nine years that they’ve won each of their first five league matches. A note of caution, though: in the 2016/17 season, the first points were dropped on Matchday 6 (a 1-1 draw against Köln). Nevertheless, the title was secured with four games to spare at the end of the season with a 16-point lead over RB Leipzig.
Stretching back to last season, it’s now seven Bundesliga wins in a row – a record under head coach Vincent Kompany. The last time FCB recorded a longer winning run was in 2020 under Hansi Flick (14).
Attacking power and defensive deficiency
But one thing differentiates Eintracht this season from Bayern, who boast the joint-best defence in the league with three goals conceded. Alongside the Hessians’ attacking force is a considerable defensive weakness. Only Werder Bremen (14) have let in more goals than SGE (13) – another club record after five matchdays. The fact that Bayern have scored at least three times in each of their last six league outings won’t ease the concerns in the Frankfurt defence ahead of Saturday’s prime-time encounter.

However, the fourth-placed team have hope in their young goalscorer Can Uzun. With eight goal involvements this season, the 19-year-old, who was born in Regensburg, Bavaria, is second behind Kane in the Bundesliga. Kane, meanwhile, has notched 10 goals and three assists, while the England captain has delivered braces in both Champions League games against Chelsea and at Pafos on Tuesday night. He’s also netted twice in the league encounters against Bremen and Hoffenheim, and has even scored two hat-tricks already against Hamburg and Leipzig. The only game in which the 32-year-old hasn’t been on the scoresheet this season was at Augsburg.
Uzun has something over Kane
Yet Uzun is ahead of Kane in one respect: the Eintracht striker is the only player to have scored in every Bundesliga game this season. In fact, no one else in Europe’s top five leagues has managed that. The Turkey international is also the first Frankfurt player ever to achieve this feat.
