Professor Dr Dieter Mayer, FC Bayern München senior vice-president, presented transparent figures and forward-looking forecasts in his speech to the Bayern family at the 2025 annual general meeting. With clear words and a great sense of responsibility, he conveyed how the club remained on track financially in the 2024/25 financial year, successfully managing both its non-profit and commercial activities.
Two areas of activity – conceptual and economic
Mayer's remarks focused on the contrast between the non-profit area, which deals with members and sporting activities (as further elaborated by his colleague Walter Mennekes), and the commercial business operations. While membership fees and other income from asset management provide solid financing for the non-profit sector, income from the eV's stake in FC Bayern München AG, lease income from the Campus and income from the club magazine ‘51’ generate added value for the business.
• Income from membership fees amounted to over €16 million
• Advertising rights and interest from fixed-term deposits generated additional revenue
Positive business development and solid results
A particular highlight was the news that the financial year ended with a positive result of €7,025,780 – despite more than €4 million in write-downs, which relate to FC Bayern Campus, among other things. Revenue from commercial operations, “such as dividends from our investments, revenue from the magazine ‘51’ and lease agreements”, was highlighted as a key driver of success. The club also benefited from improved payment practices.

Even though liquidity of over €35 million is currently at a healthy level, a reduction to around €22 million is planned for the coming financial year – a scenario that, according to Mayer, is to be expected in the context of strategic planning.
Balance sheet and outlook – impressive figures
According to Mayer, the club's balance sheet is impressive, with solid key figures:
• Tangible assets – primarily the FC Bayern Campus
• Financial assets – with a significant share in the 75% stake in FC Bayern München AG (with a Forbes value of around €3.8 billion)
• Current assets, which include all receivables and cash and cash equivalents
With equity capital of almost €150 million and an impressive equity ratio of 98%, the foundation for financial success has been laid. The Basketball GmbH, as part of the club's economic mainstay, also recorded a positive result of approximately €1.1 million with solid liquidity of around €9 million.
Commitment, gratitude and a look to the future
Mayer concluded his speech by expressing his heartfelt thanks to all the staff at the club's administrative offices, the honorary committee and his colleagues on the executive committee – above all Herbert Hainer and Mennekes. He praised the tireless commitment of the members, which keeps FC Bayern strong even in economically challenging times. He reminded everyone that every decision is always made with the club's welfare in mind.
Looking ahead to the 2025/26 financial year, in which an annual surplus of approximately €1.6 million is expected – supported by a future dividend from the AG – Mayer emphasised that financial success and sustainable stability go hand in hand. He asked the members to continue supporting the executive committee in the future and thus to further advance FC Bayern as one of the most successful clubs in the world in terms of sport and economics.
Mennekes emphasises cohesion

At the FC Bayern Show in Berlin, the focus was once again on solidarity within our red and white family. During the celebration of club history, great sporting moments and famous legends, Mennekes, FC Bayern München deputy vice-president, emphasised in his speech at the AGM how essential it is to support one another – “for each other, among each other and with each other. Only together are we strong.”
Providing support and actively shaping the future
“Providing support” means offering backing and assistance. The PACK MA’S initiative presented by Mennekes invites all members to get actively involved and take on responsibility. Through intergenerational meetings at the Campus and a variety of projects, as well as involvement in areas such as Red Against Racism, the clubs shows “that true community arises from listening and exchanging different perspectives,” according to Mennekes.
Exercise – More than just physical activity

Another focus of the club was on promoting physical activity. In view of alarming figures – “only about one in four girls and one in three boys meet the recommended levels of physical activity” – Mennekes pointed out that FC Bayern has set clear priorities. Projects such as ZAM AKTIV connect schools and daycare centres to facilitate access to regular exercise: “Sport not only shapes the body, it also strengthens the emotional and social development of our youth,” Mennekes said.
Emotions, diversity and our shared journey
According to the vice-president, the crowning moment was the image of 800 members in Berlin celebrating the club with their scarves raised and singing the anthem. “Whether in handball, football, chess or table tennis – FC Bayern shows in all areas what cohesion can achieve,” said Mennekes. He summed up his speech with gratitude and a clear call to continue standing together as a family: “Together, we not only move balls, but also hearts,” Mennekes concluded.
President Herbert Hainer also addressed the AGM:
