Free-scoring Bayern set new Bundesliga record with 51 goals from 14 games

History was made 29 minutes into Bayern’s Bundesliga game at home to Mainz on Sunday. It wasn’t just that 17-year-old Lennart Karl had scored again to make it 1-0 but that it was Bayern’s 50th goal of the league campaign. The milestone came on Matchday 14, making it the fastest any team had reached a half century of goals in a top-flight season in Germany. The Bavarians even took their total to 51 by the end of the 2-2 draw.

Bayern occupy top six positions

Bayern now take the top six positions for the highest-scoring teams in the Bundesliga after 14 matchdays, with totals of 48 (1976/77), 47 (2023/24 and 2022/23), 45 (2021/22) and 44 (2020/21). The next best team is Köln with 43 strikes in 1977/78, before Bayern again occupy the next two spots in the list.

On course for 123 goals

Scoring an average of 3.64 goals per game, Vincent Kompany’s team are on track to finish 2025/26 on 123 goals. That would smash the previous Bundesliga record of 101 goals that Bayern set in 1971/72.

Second-best start ever

Harry Kane’s late penalty ensured that Bayern have now scored at least two goals in each of their last 22 Bundesliga fixtures, setting a new record in the process. FCB also boast the second-best start to a season in Bundesliga history with 38 points and a +40 goal difference. Only the Bayern class of 2015/16 have ever got off to a better start with 40 points and +37 goal difference.
