Reaction to pre-season friendly against Wehen Wiesbaden - Tom Bischof: 'We could’ve won it'
A Bayern team consisting of a mix of senior players, reserves, U17s and U19s was beaten 2-1 away at Wehen Wiesbaden in the first friendly match of 2026/27 pre-season. “We controlled the game for long periods. It’s a shame we ended up losing. We could’ve won it,” summarised Tom Bischof, who came off the bench for the second half and scored the equaliser. fcbayern.com rounds up the reaction from Wiesbaden.
Reaction to Wehen Wiesbaden friendly

Christoph Freund: “We played with a really young team in the first half in particular. Lots of the boys were playing against men for the first time but did well and held their own. It was a bit of a different game in the second half. We had a bit more experience on the pitch. It was a good first friendly on the whole after a week in which we trained with lots of young players and a big group. The important thing was that nobody got injured.”

Vincent Kompany (before kick-off): “I’m happy we’re back again. Obviously we still don’t have any players here who were at the World Cup, but it’s an opportunity for the other players. Wiesbaden made things tough for us in the cup last season, so it’s a good test for the young players.”

Tom Bischof: “We controlled the game for long periods. We maybe lacked a bit of movement, which is normal after just one week of training. It’s a shame we ended up losing. We could’ve won it. The boys did well on the whole. It was definitely clear to me today that I’d take it [the penalty]. I’ve practised a lot of penalties lately, felt good and am pleased it worked out.”
