After 2-2 draw

Arsenal post-match reaction - Harry Kane: 'We should've killed it off'

A great battle, a great team performance – but in the end, having trailed 1-0 and led 2-1, FC Bayern had to settle for a 2-2 draw against Arsenal FC. “We should’ve killed it off, we had the chances,” said Harry Kane, who set up the equaliser and put Bayern 2-1 up from the penalty spot. fcbayern.com has compiled the post-match reaction for you:

Vincent Kompany: “We’re in a period with a lot of games. You have to immediately look to the next one. We played against strong opponents, we realised that. But we had our moments and more big chances than I imagined before the game. It’s a bit unfortunate because we were struggling a bit in the last 10 to 15 minutes as Lucho (Luis Díaz) had to go off again. That obviously takes away some of your momentum. We had the feeling that we could, or maybe even should have won the game, but we’re up against strong opponents and the game was never over. It’s obviously a shame in the moment when you concede the equaliser, but it was an intensive match against a top team, and next we face the team third in the Bundesliga and that’s the most important as of now.”

Harry Kane: “It was a good performance. Especially at the start of the second half, we came back out with high intensity and scored the goal. In that spell we should’ve killed it off – we had the chances. We tried to keep the ball in the last 20 minutes but Arsenal punished us with their goal. The draw was fair overall. We’ve got a lot of players who are missing tonight, so we’ll take the point.”

Tom Bischof: “When you take the lead, it's disappointing to not take three points. We had a good phase, got into a rhythm going forward and played well, but Arsenal are a very good team and they applied pressure. Then we concede the goal and it gets a bit scrappy. I really enjoyed being on the pitch. Overall it was a good team performance. We threw everything into it and just needed to make more of our chances. I’d have nothing against Harry Kane winning the Ballon d’Or – he certainly deserves it. He doesn’t just score goals but also provides assists and is always there for the team. The ball to Phonzie (Alphonso Davies) was just sensational.”

Reaction from Arsenal

Mikel Arteta (coach): “We came here to win. We were the better team in the first 20, 25 minutes. It was two teams who want to press and play with very high intensity. We kept going and tried to win, which says a lot about the character and quality of the team. We played against a very strong team.”

Kai Havertz (forward): “All in all, I think it was a fair result. We had a few chances to score another goal, but so did Bayern. I think it was a top-notch game for both sides and for the spectators as well. We can proud of how we held our own here. We know Bayern are one of the best teams in Europe, so we’re satisfied with the result, even though we wanted more. Bayern play man-to-man all over the whole pitch. You get duels that you don’t get in every game, but it’s fun.”
