Contract extended until 2029

Harry Kane and his record-breaking Munich years

Harry Kane’s move to FC Bayern in August 2023 has been a success story that can’t be reduced to goals alone. His numbers speak of phenomenal consistency, historic records and a time in Munich that’s already assured of its place in the history books of German football. That makes the joy at FC Bayern all the greater that the English goal-getter, who recently won the Ballon d’Or in London, has extended his contract until 2029.

Harry Kane came to Munich with a reputation as an outstanding goalscorer. What’s happened since then has surpassed even the highest expectations. In 161 competitive games for FC Bayern, Kane has scored 156 goals and set up a further 40. That means he’s been directly involved in 196 goals in total. Since his transfer on 12 August 2023, no player in Europe’s top five leagues has scored more competitive goals for their club than Kane. He’s also top when it comes to goal involvements – ahead of Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland.

One record that sums up Kane’s time in Munich

Kane’s impact in Munich is particularly evident from his Bundesliga record. He recently scored goals number 100 and 101 in his 98th appearance in the German top flight in Bayern’s match against Union Berlin, becoming by far the fastest player to reach the 100-goal mark in the Bundesliga. Dieter Müller took 129 games, Gerd Müller 136.

Having reached 100 Bundesliga goals in record time, Kane was on 102 goals after his 100th appearance – more goals than games. No other player in the history of the league can boast such a record. Timo Konietzka, Dieter Müller and Uwe Seeler trail him in this historic comparison by some distance.

This milestone had added significance for Bayern as Kane became only the seventh player to hit over 100 Bundesliga goals for the club. Before him, only legends Gerd Müller, Robert Lewandowski, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Thomas Müller, Roland Wohlfarth and Dieter Hoeneß achieved this. Kane therefore joins an illustrious circle of very special goalscorers at FC Bayern.

Records that reflect consistency

Kane’s extraordinary spell in Munich is not only revealed in individual moments of glory, but above all in its consistency. He netted 36 goals in his first Bundesliga campaign – more than any other player before in his debut season in the German top flight. Two years later, he repeated that figure, becoming only the second man after Gerd Müller to register 36 or more goals in multiple Bundesliga campaigns.

The previous 2025/26 season in particular highlights how consistently Kane delivers for FCB. The England captain racked up 61 goals in 51 games in all competitions – the best tally in Europe’s top five leagues. That was also a new personal record for Kane at club level. Since Bayern’s promotion to the Bundesliga, only Gerd Müller has scored more competitive goals in one season (66 in 1972/73).

To put that into perspective internationally, only Lionel Messi of players from Europe’s big five leagues has netted more goals in a single season in this millennium: the Argentinian found the net 73 times in the 2011/12 campaign, while Cristiano Ronaldo also hit 61 in 2014/15.

Particularly reliable from the spot and against Stuttgart

Kane’s influence on Bayern’s game extends far beyond spectacular goalscoring runs, though. Take his precision from the spot: he’s converted 25 of his 27 penalties in the Bundesliga, including 24 in a row – a league record.

Kane’s also developed a special liking for VfB Stuttgart. The Englishman has scored more goals against the Swabians than against any other team in a Bayern shirt: 14 times in total, including three hat-tricks. One of those capped off his already remarkable 2025/26 season.

A cup final for the history books

He netted all three goals in the 3-0 win in the DFB Cup final against Stuttgart, becoming just the fourth player to score a hat-trick in a cup final after Seeler, Wohlfarth and Lewandowski. Kane however was the first to claim a so-called “lupenrein” hat-trick – three goals scored consecutively in one half.

It wasn’t just in the final that Kane defined the previous cup season. With 10 goals in total, he registered the highest tally by a player for 49 years. Since the formation of the Bundesliga in 1963, only Gerd and Dieter Müller have netted more than 10 strikes in a DFB Cup campaign.

Kane has continued his record streak in the 2026/27 season, scoring for the seventh cup match in a row against Osnabrück to equal a club record. Only Gerd and Thomas Müller previously pulled off this feat.

Also making his mark on the biggest European stage

Kane’s time in Munich has likewise been marked by big numbers in the UEFA Champions League. He scored 14 goals in the 2025/26 season – only Mbappé netted one more. In Bayern history, only Lewandowski has been more prolific having hit 15 Champions League goals in 2019/20.

The striker has also scored in six consecutive knockout matches in Europe’s premier club competition, matching the record set by Cristiano Ronaldo in 2012 and 2013. And he’s continued his goalscoring exploits in the current campaign: in the 2-2 draw against Arsenal, Kane scored in his 10th successive Champions League game. Again, only Ronaldo has bettered this before – the Portuguese narrowly remains the record holder with 11 matches in a row from 2017 to 2018.

Even a goalless draw now forms part of Kane’s incredible statistics. He failed to get on the scoresheet in the first meeting against Schalke 04 this season. The Royal Blues are thus the only one of the 22 Bundesliga clubs Kane has faced who he hasn’t scored against.

A stroke of luck for Bayern

Harry Kane’s time at FC Bayern so far is a story of records – but not just a collection of numbers. Every record represents the consistency that Kane has produced in Munich: as a goalscorer, as a leader and as the reliable focal point of the Bayern attack.

He’s reached 100 Bundesliga goals in the quickest time, set historic season figures, decided finals and established himself ahead of some of the greatest strikers of his generation in the European rankings.
